Overview

Your data, minimal by design

Souverain Research Labs ("we," "us," or "Labs") operates this website. Our founding principle is that your most sensitive information is yours. We design our data practices accordingly: collect as little as possible, and never for advertising.

Core commitment: No advertising, no data brokers, no tracking for profit. Research data is governed by explicit, informed consent — and participants can withdraw at any time.
Collection

Data we collect

Website visits

Our hosting provider's standard logs may record IP addresses and request metadata for security and reliability. We do not use this data to identify or profile visitors.

Waitlist & enquiries

When you join the waitlist or contact us, we collect the information you provide: name, email address, and any message content. This is used solely to respond to you and to send research updates you requested.

Support communications

If you correspond with us, we retain those communications to resolve your enquiry. You may request deletion at any time.

Analytics

Analytics & tracking

This website uses Umami, a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics service, run on our own self-hosted instance. Umami collects only aggregate, anonymised usage statistics — such as page views, referrers, device type, and browser — which we use to understand which parts of the site are actually useful. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and does not use fingerprinting, advertising trackers, or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Beyond basic page views, we use Umami's custom-event tracking to understand how people use specific parts of the site. The events we record are:

  • Guide reading progress — how far down a guide page is read, when the support panel at the end of a guide is reached, and how long the page stays open, reported in coarse bands (25/50/75/100%)
  • Support-link clicks — which support surface was clicked (nav, footer, guide page, badge page, or crypto page, including which currency's address was copied)
  • Badge page views — visits to the individual badge purchase pages
  • Theme preference — when you switch the site between light and dark mode

None of these events contain text you type, search queries, or any form content you submit. They are used solely to improve the site and are never used to identify you.

Your light/dark theme choice is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so the preference persists between visits; a copy of that choice is also sent as an anonymous theme-toggle event so we know how many people use each theme.

Analytics data is processed by our own analytics instance and is used solely to improve this website. It is never sold, and it is never shared with advertisers or data brokers. The statistics are aggregate and anonymised, and we do not attempt to link them back to you as an individual.

Research data

Research participation data

When observational studies open, participant data is governed by a separate, study-specific consent form approved by an independent ethics review. The general commitments:

  • Non-invasive measurement only — wearables, standard blood panels, imaging, questionnaires
  • Data collected under explicit, informed, revocable consent
  • Anonymisation or pseudonymisation before any analysis or publication
  • No sale of participant data, ever
Sharing

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Limited sharing may occur with:

  • Hosting & infrastructure providers — necessary to operate this website
  • Payment processing (Gumroad) — badge purchases are completed in an embedded Gumroad checkout; payment and purchase details are processed by Gumroad under its own privacy policy, and we receive only the purchase confirmation
  • Cryptocurrency contributions — sent directly to wallet addresses published on this site, with no third-party payment processor involved. The transfer itself is recorded on the relevant public blockchain (which we do not control); no personal data is required from you, and no payment details pass through this website
  • Research collaborators — only anonymised data, only under data-sharing agreements, only for the purposes you consented to
  • Legal requirements — we will resist legal demands for user data to the maximum extent permitted by law and will notify you where we are permitted to do so
Retention

Data retention

Waitlist and enquiry data is retained while you remain subscribed, and for up to 12 months after you unsubscribe or request deletion, after which it is permanently deleted. Anonymised aggregate statistics may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked to individuals.
